Halt/90-Degree Pivot Right
The dog sits and pauses there momentarily. Then the handler pivots in a 90-degree turn to the right, with the dog moving to the right at the handler’s side and returning to a sit position.
Excellent:
Halt/Stand/Sit
The dog halts and sits. Then, on command but without any physical help from the handler, the dog rises to a stand, then returns to a sit.
Moving Down/Walk Around Dog
While moving forward, the handler signals the dog to go down and stay down while the handler walks around the dog. The team then moves forward together.
As these examples make clear, some Rally skills are quite different from obedience, though a dog with a strong obedience foundation should master Rally skills quite readily. “I like Rally,” Kim Berkley notes, “because it brings home to people how useful the intricate details of obedience training really are.”
